Pantry Organization!

A couple weekends ago Michael installed additional shelving on the side walls of our pantry so we could move things like Ziploc, Saran, and spices out of drawers and into more efficient locations. I've been wanting to do this for awhile, but the motivation came partly from needing a drawer for baby things and mostly from when I heard that it took 10 minutes for our dog sitter to find a can opener when we were in Memphis. I don't have a before picture, but I had three drawers filled with Ziploc bags (I keep them in every size - don't like to waste by using a size bigger than needed!), Saran Wrap, aluminum foil, and spices. Now I have perfect shelving on the side walls of the pantry for all those things, two drawers filled with utensils (that used to be in containers under the cabinet) and one empty drawer! The empty drawer makes me happy because I know I will need it in about 6 months for baby things. And I have empty under the cabinet space too now where the utinsels used to be...that space is also slotted for baby things. Organization makes me happy...ahhh.

Oh, and I would remiss if I didn't say thank you to the hubby for the awesome installation job. Thanks Michael for my shelves! I love you (and them)!

Baby Payne Gender Poll

Do you think we are having a boy or a girl? Vote in my poll to the right. If you don't have any inkling, just vote for which one you'd love to see us end up with! As I said before, I have no idea...Michael thinks it's a boy. We'll see!

Oh, and I read this somewhere recently and it made me feel a little better about not taking part in "Life's Biggest Surprise" by waiting till baby is born to find out the gender:

"Since we have no idea what the gender is until the ultrasound, it's still a big surprise to find out the gender at 20 weeks instead of waiting till baby is born...we just get the surprise a few months earlier!"

Sorry to all those that are adamant about waiting. I have nothing against you (and actually, I'm pretty impressed)...we just can't do it! :)

(I keep adding on to this post...) If you want to, you can also leave a comment to tell me what you voted in the poll. It doesn't tell me who voted for what. I'm sure there's a way to tell or a Poll Gadget that will track that...I just haven't figured that out yet.

Questions I've Been Getting Recently About Baby Payne and the Answers

1. What are you having? Um, a baby. No really, we don't know the gender yet. Probably won't find out for another 6 weeks at least. And yes, I think we are going to find out. Michael says he can't wait. He needs to confirm his suspicion that Baby Payne is a boy.

2. How are you feeling? Really good actually. Like I said before, I'm mostly really tired, but hopefully that will be replaced by abundant energy soon! I have lots of little projects around the house I want to get done! Some general queasiness and weakness if I haven't eaten enough, but for the most part, that's all gone.

3. Did you still fit in your clothes? See the post below. There's a few that were already borderline that I just washed and put away for next year, but I'm still in my normal clothes for the time being. I still have "fat pants" (i.e. freshman-year-of-college-when-I-gained-20 lbs-and-then-promptly-lost-it-again pants) I haven't even had to wear yet!

4. When's your next doctor's appt? Wednesday, April 29th. Just a check-up. No ultrasounds or anything special till the appointment after that.

5. Are you excited? Of course! We are thrilled! And a little scared if I really think about it too hard...but that's normal for baby number one right? I've just decided to go with the flow and not think about the scary parts (i.e. labor).

I'm sure there's more, but I can't remember them all right now and I need to be at church in like 5 minutes...

Baby Update - 13 Weeks

The strangest thing happened to me this morning...I woke up at 6:40am. Like wide awake. That never happens. Even if I go to bed at 9 the night before, I don't wake up before 7am. And if even I do, I just fall right back asleep. Granted, I had to pee like crazy (as I did when I woke up at 2:30 am too...), but usually it's straight back to sleep afterwards. Not this morning. It was the strangest sensation. Did I just switch from 1st trimester to 2nd trimester overnight? I sure hope so! It's been soooo hard getting out of bed in the morning for the last 10 weeks. I could use some extra energy right about now!

For those of you that haven't seen me in the past week, yes, I did get a haircut. A pretty significant one actually. 10 1/2 inches to be exact. And yes, I am donating it to be used to make a wig for someone. That's why it's so drastic. I know everyone says not to cut your hair when you are pregnant, but because I've been so tired and couldn't get out of bed in the mornings (see comment above), I was going to work with my hair wet and in a ponytail all the time...gross. It was time to make the cut. And I didn't want to waste it by only cutting 6 inches...so I took the leap and told her to cut a few more so my hair could be used to make someone a wig.

Besides, the girl who cuts my hair is awesome (click here to book online with her!) so I basically sat down and said, "Here's the deal. I'm pregnant (woo-hoo and excitement ensued) and will be gaining some weight. I want to cut my hair, but want to avoid fat face. What can you do?" She told me a bunch of things and I said, "Okay! I trust you!" I love Lauren...

I guess I should talk more about Baby Payne since this post is supposed to be a Baby Update. Below is my first "Belly Pic." There's not much too it, but it's more than was there a few weeks ago, so I figured it was worth posting. Besides, everyone's been asking. Still not sure how much can be attributed to baby bump and how much is actually just digestion problems, but we'll just say it's baby!
Well, I just decided to post my real first official Belly Pic. This was taken at Winterfest when I was like 6 weeks pregnant (and LeeAnn was 26...I think). Enough to still be having digestion issues, but not much else. It really was just a "Oh-my-goodness-the-Godbey-girls-are-pregnant-at-the-same-time-we-have-to-take-a-picture!" picture. Oh, you might say there's no difference between the two pictures, but don't be fooled by the shadow behind my tummy on this picture. There really was nothing there at that point.

But evidently, in about 13 more weeks, I'll look like sissy does in that picture...wow. Guess I need to break out the stetchy pants soon!

CBC Girls Weekend!

Two out of the last three weekends have been girls weekends! (Poor Michael...) Initially, it was going to be just me, Sarah Crump, and Brittany Mills (love my CBC girls!). Then on Thursday both of them emailed me to say, "Can I bring a friend?" Well, I'm too much like my mom to say no, so of course I said "Of course! Bring em' on!" So we ended up with five girls spending the weekend upstairs (add Jenifer Queen, Shaina Crump, and Brittany's friend, Jenna). I love having the room to have people stay with us!

Michael made an awesome breakfast on Saturday morning...eggs, bacon, sausage, strawberries, english muffins, cinnamon rolls...makes me hungry just thinking about it again! Then we went to Centennial Park and played Criss-Cross Croquet of Chaos in front of the Parthenon. It was such a beautiful day!

Then we came back to the house and had a Nertz party. It was pretty sad though - Sarah Crump won with a score of zero...just shows how badly the rest of us did!

Girls, thanks so much for coming to visit. I love having you here this weekend! Come back anytime. I'm just like M:)M (my mom, for those who don't know her signature!), you are always welcome!

Memphis South Regional Finals - Day 2

Last Sunday was the NCAA South Regional Finals in Memphis and after we watched UNC beat Gonzaga on Friday night, we had tickets to watch UNC beat Oklahoma. What a cool story we have to go along with it too. Michael really wanted to upgrade his upper level seats to lower level seats, but we (okay, I) decided not to spend the extra money. So we were sitting up high when this guy walks up to us and says, "Hey, I've got two extra tickets at the suite level if you guys want to move down." Uh, yes. You didn't have to convince us! But when we went to the suite level, they said "No, you are up too high...your tickets are down on the floor." Well, when we got down to the floor (they check your tickets or they won't let you down there!) we realized the guy had given us his tickets instead of his extra tickets. So he switched them out for us, but we were already on the floor like 12 rows back so why move up? We took some empty seats from where the poor Syracuse fans were sitting on Friday night and there we enjoyed our front row (almost!) view of the game. How awesome. Michael was giddy. Like a 4 year old. It was great.

Oh, and Lauren Moore and Jonathan Melton came down for the game also. We ate at Central BBQ before the game...it was yummy and VERY messy!
